Block of the Month #1

The quilt store down by the Olympia Farmers Market, Bayside Quilting has a Buck a Block program. Each month they have the supplies for a quilt block and once you sign up it just costs a buck to pick up your block. I signed up in June and bought the blocks I’d missed and have been buying the new blocks as they come out.

Yesterday I finally created block #1! Sewing is not my thing. I want to sew, I want to like sewing, I want to be good at it. So far it ain’t happening. I get so stressed and tense over the cutting, the ironing, the sewing– all of it. Knotted my neck and shoulders up real good yesterday. But I finished the block!

Block of the Month #1

Everything didn’t line up quite right and my seam allowances are a little off. I’m trying to decide if I want to buy some more of the fabric (or another of the block kits) and remake the block as I get better or do this entire lap quilt as is showing how I improve (hopefully) along the way. The perfectionist in me wants to redo the block the honest person in me (and the lazy person) wants to keep it as is.
