Easter Egg Hunt at Cider Mill

We went to Lattin’s Cider Mill for their annual Easter egg hunt. We had a fun time, even though it was quite chilly, but I don’t think it will become an annual event for us. Way too many people for us hermit types. They warn to get there early because parking was limited so we had plenty of time to walk around and look at the animals. This was Xander’s 3rd trip to the farm but it was the first time he really wanted to walk around and look at the animals.

This Nubian doe licked Xander’s hand, he thought it was hilarious! The little babies were so adorable. Some were born just this morning, so tiny!

The Easter Bunny was wandering around the farm. A lot of the little kids were getting their photo taken with him but Xander wouldn’t go near the giant bunny man. Here he is peeking around Ryan to look at the Easter Bunny.

We weren’t sure if Xander would understand what to do at the actual egg hunt but he caught on right away.

We went to Lattin’s Country Cider Mill again, this time with my Mom. Xander had more fun this time but was still mighty wary of everything. It’s a fun trip– go on a Saturday for their fresh apple fritter’s they are AMAZING!

Cherry blossoms!

The other morning Ryan went out early for a walk in the orchard and when he came back he asked if I had noticed that the cherry tree was blooming? Nope, hadn’t noticed it even though you can see it from the kitchen window! Since it turned out to be such a lovely day, Xander and I went out to see the cherry tree that afternoon.

Nature Crawl

We finally had a sunny day here last Monday and Xander decided to go on a crawlabout.

All worn out now, must sleep.

It was a beautiful day and we all enjoyed spending time outside. While Xander got in some good exploring, we cut back Scotch Broom and pruned some of the fruit trees. Have I mentioned how much we love having this property?

First Haircut

Xander’s hair was growing over his face making him look like a sheepdog.

So last Sunday Ryan decided to give him a quick trim. Which is easier said than done. Xander would not keep his head still, kept twisting this way and that. I was sure he was going to get poked with the scissors. Glad I was the one with the camera and not the one with the scissors.

He still needs some trimmed around his ears and a few stray hairs around the face but we’ll do that another time, like when he’s asleep! Xander really seems to be happy to not have hair in his face. Haircut made Mommy cry though, my little baby was gone and in his place was a little boy!

I love the little boy! I’m excited to see the little boy and happily anticipating the adventures we will have but at the same time I miss the little baby.

Yeah, that little baby. This photo was taken last year at this time (photo 1.19.09, haircut 1.17.10), my goodness what a difference a year makes.

Bring Your Own Bags

Do you bring your own bags to the grocery store? If yes, let people know. Get a free window cling for your car . If no, why not? Cloth bags make carrying the groceries easier, they hold more, are more comfortable, and don’t tear apart with heavy items. Plastic bags take 100’s of years to break down. When they do decompose they leach toxic elements into our soil and water. Yuck! Make a difference, start bringing your own bags to the store.
